Cup of Tea?
I do love my tea – it’s the best way to wake up; to keep hydrated; to relax. The standard at our house is Twinings Earl Grey, although there’s ‘gumboot’ (Choysa black tea) for those who don’t care that much, and I make sure to keep a rather large selection of herbal tea as well. I also have a special lidded cup from Xia just for drinking my loose-tea peppermint tea in…

Seriously Proud Queer
For a long time I was uncomfortable with the term ‘queer’ – at least when it came to applying it to myself. Despite knowing that many people regard it as an umbrella term for those of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities, it didn’t feel like it was a label that was right for me.
I’m quite particular about my labels. I really like to have them, with the proviso that I have chosen them myself – and I write them on removable stickers, in pencil! So sure, I’ve plastered myself with pansexual and polyamorous – either of which is enough for various friends to tell me that the label suited me. But I needed to work it through for myself, to see if it was a term I could come to terms with, reconcile to my sense of identity.

Waving the Flag
One of the wonderful things about my best friend Kiana is that we just have so much fun together. Sometimes it’s a quiet day of reading; other times it’s hitting the op-shops … and occasionally it’s covering me in paint and photographing the results!
Before I got covered in paint, Kiana created a flag for me – one I am absolutely proud to have. Here are some more pictures of it (and yes, there are click-throughs on all of them this week):

Don’t Dream It’s Over
I’m sitting upstairs in my small apartment on a Saturday morning, eating brunch at the formica table that sits just off the kitchen. The view from the window is sunny and clear, and I’m enjoying the Spring warmth. There’s a knock on my door, which is down the narrow wooden stairs, and I go to answer it. My mother and her friend Pinky bustle in, looking excited and pleased to be there.

Outdoor Tub Afternoon
It was an absolutely delightful afternoon: splashing about in the tub in my backyard while Demeter took pictures, made suggestions, and rescued errant apples. We were doing the Envy photoshoot for my Seven Wonderful Sins series – and we had a blast! And, being us, took far more photos than those required to tell the story that I wanted.
Enjoy some more images from that lovely day (click-throughs on all of them):

Lay Your Hands On Me
Today is day seven – the final day – of the Seven Wonderful Sins celebration, and the delectable focus for today is on LUST.

Taking it Easy
Today is day five of the Seven Wonderful Sins celebration, and the focus today is on the marvellous invention of SLOTH.
Sometimes there’s nothing better than just being totally utterly lazy. Kicking back, reading a book, enjoying the day going by. Especially when there’s a well-trained pet (aka Hylas) to fetch you drinks, take photographs, and do all the heavy lifting for you…

Garden of Delights
Today is day four of the Seven Wonderful Sins celebration, and the focus today is on ENVY - but with a twist to keep it fun!
Envy is something I generally don’t perceive as wonderful. While I rarely feel jealous, I do occasionally have pangs of envy: wanting to have what they have (without taking it away from them). Which isn’t the greatest feeling in the world. What I am, though, is upfront with myself about how I am feeling and what I’m going to do about it. Intrapersonal communication is just as important as the interpersonal

Challenging Myself
If there are rules, I tend not to follow them – not unless someone can give me a pretty good reason for that rule to be there. So when it comes to body hair, and society’s rules? I stick my tongue out at them! I have wild bush and silky pits, and I love them like that.
This month, though, I challenged myself – because one of the few areas of my body that I don’t adore is my chinny-chin-chin, and the ever-appearing hairs. So I’ve been ignoring the tweezers and letting them grow, and grow, and grow. (And as a bonus, I let my leg hair go free as well – well, why not?)

To the Nines
Demeter has a photographer’s eye. While most anyone can take a picture of me (myself included) and have it come out to my satisfaction, the images that she creates are pure art.
One day she took my skin, some bathtime crayons, my favourite number, and the afternoon sunshine – and this was the result.
(There are black and white beauties on the click-throughs.)
