Walk in the Sky

Posted on | March 3, 2013 | 14 Comments |

There’s something special about walking on skyways. Whether they have glass beneath your feet or stick to glassed-in walls, that feeling of being in the sky – a pedestrian between buildings high in the air – is amazing.

I’ve been photographed in one before, for my airport scavenger hunt with Amie, but thought it would make a great location all on its own. Especially when I kept walking through this handy one in the city on Saturday afternoons (between K’ Road and the Mercury car park) and finding it deserted! Between wearing a top that made flashing my tits easy, making good use of my gorilla pod to hang my camera from the metal railings, and the very useful 10-second delay on the camera itself, I got some very pleasing photographs.

All in a days work (after a days work), really :)

In this direction – looking up Cross Street toward Mercury Lane – there’s a very exciting view of the parking building, and a bit of a peek at the Green Party‘s Auckland office. The afternoon sunlight makes it a bit bright in this direction!

Facing the other way – down Cross Street toward Queen Street – you can see the other skyway (which goes through to the Asian Supermarket) and a whole lot more parking building. Just past that, though, is Club Sparty, which is a couples/lifestyles club. Sparty’s has been the occasion of some pretty great play parties, my first rope suspension, and also where I was covered in donuts that were then eaten off me (now that was a good, albeit messy, night).

Do you have any skyways where you live?

Amaze balls as usually. And having doughnuts eaten off of you sounds like an amazing time :)

We have one of those over one of our busiest highways, and I have often thought it would be a definite Scavenger Hunt coup! Well done, Dee! :-)

Penny – Well, I have had a lot of practice!

O – *chuckle* You say the loveliest things!

Jade – So what are the chances of you getting up there and snapping it, huh?

Beck – No balls here! Just really epic ovaries :)

I’m guessing it must have been both a blast and nerve wrecking doing this on your own!

Sean – You would be completely correct!

Ann – I love my gorilla pod! It lives in my handbag along with my camera, because I never know when it will come in handy :)
