Proud to be Me

Today is day three of the Seven Wonderful Sins celebration, and the focus today is on PRIDE!
There are a lot of different ways to interpret ‘pride’ these days, but I really wasn’t sure where to take this one. Luckily for me, Kiana knew exactly what to do, and it wasn’t simply running around with a Pride Flag – although as you can see below, she did create a special one to celebrate my blogaversary. How awesome is that?
No, when it came to me and pride, Kiana made sure I went all out …
There are click-throughs on all images – don’t miss out!
This fantastic flag has everything! A curvy rainbow; colourful pawprints, the number seven in my very favourite colour, big hearts – and of course PRIDE and CURVY DEE as well! This is definitely going with me to the next Big Gay Out – and yeah, I’ll probably be running around with it
But why stop at painting a flag when I can paint myself? So that’s what we did with all the rest of the acrylic poster paints! Kiana squeezed each tube out into my hands, and I chose a body sectionto slather in bright colour.
(Kiana’s back deck looks out over even more houses that my yard does – so a whole lot of neighbourhood got flashed that afternoon!)
I was having a blast – can you tell? And I absolutely adore what happened when the blue went on next…
Finally I was all painted up – and I looked ‘like a superhero or something!’ which of course led to me putting on ridiculous poses and laughing my arse off. Which is absolutely the best way to be when you’re naked and covered in paint, I feel
Eventually it was time for the clean-up:
You’d think that if I could reach to slap paint on me, that I could reach to clean it off, right? *raises eyebrows* Oh no. Not so simple! A whole lot of scrubbing later (and Kiana laughing her arse off), I was mostly paint-free. Except for all those pesky spots I found later on…
So, what does a Dee do once she’s painted herself up? Make art, of course! Take one Kiana holding one white sheet. Press body into sheet. Wrap sheet around body. Press some more. Feel the glop and squish. Make sure to add the hand-prints. Step back and peg it down to dry.
And pose with it after showering, naturally
So yes, I’m proud. Proud of loving my body. Proud of being able to share my love of my shape. Proud of having a message of self-worth that others see as inspirational.
And proud of being shameless, too.
