Outdoor Tub Afternoon
Posted on | January 16, 2013 | 22 Comments | Previous Post Next Post
It was an absolutely delightful afternoon: splashing about in the tub in my backyard while Demeter took pictures, made suggestions, and rescued errant apples. We were doing the Envy photoshoot for my Seven Wonderful Sins series – and we had a blast! And, being us, took far more photos than those required to tell the story that I wanted.
Enjoy some more images from that lovely day (click-throughs on all of them):
The apples bob behind me as we wait for the tub to fill. I’m extremely happy that the hose reached all the way from the tap – I thought I was going to have to lug buckets of water! I’m also sitting carefully, as I don’t want the tub to roll over and spill out all the water …
Yes, I’m a big kid. Shuddup. I had hours of fun playing with my snake!
I’ve said this plenty, but I’ll say it again – Demeter is an amazing photographer.
And the water is marvellously cool, which is why I just had to dunk my head in it. Wouldn’t you?
**
I’ve got extras from most of my sins – keep an eye out for more!

Dee, your photo shoot is genius! I love the apples in the tub, and you look absolutely lovely. I’m so envious of your location and the fun with your snake. You have the best ideas! xo

Delicious photos! It looks like you had so much fun. My favorites are the second and third click throughs. In the second you indeed look like a big kid having so much fun. And in the last… you look very kissable

Ok I want to be someplace warm enough to have a tub in the yard right now. I love the Eden reference that cracked me up.. besides it was really Adams fault.. but as usual we women get the blame. Love the fun you had with this. As a larger woman I can honestly say that I envy you and wish I had a quarter of the self esteem and pride you have in your body and its beauty. Can I come play in the tub??

You look so beautiful stretched full length in the tub. And there’s a twinkle in the apple of your eye…

I love them. Interesting choice of Eve representing Envy. My fave photos are the first (happy face!) and the first click through (elegant and subtle).
Fab as always

I love the images you posted from this shoot for the ‘envy’ post and I agree Demeter really does take a great image but does have a great model to work with!

Last one (click through) is my fave.
I’m sure everyone who looked immediately thought of bobbing for apples.
Super fun.

Heather – You, too, can make this location. Get one (1) backyard. Track down one (1) second-hand bathtub and get it into your backyard. Buy some rubber snakes (more is better!) and some apples, fill the tub with water, and have fun!
Rebel – You can kiss me anytime, darlin’!
Scarlet – Originally I was going to use the tub, after the shoot, to grow herbs in. But you know what? It’s bloody awesome having an outdoor bath. I think I’m going to leave it – it’s worth scrubbing it out now and then to be able to soak in cool water in the outdoors.
ThatPosition – It’s the middle of a bloody hot Summer here – and you’re most welcome
TwistedAngel – I will share my tub with anyone who’d like to have a play. So of course!
MissyLittle – Oooh. Excellent play on words. I like it
Emily – Actually, for the photo shoot itself, the snake (plush) was the envious one – Eve had no envy at all. Big snake wanted all the apples for itself, and lost the possibility of friendship…
Kazi – I was simply having fun. But Demeter captured it beautifully!
Maggi – Thank you so much, hon
Rachel – It really was. I had so much fun!
Molly – Oh! You say the loveliest things! *blushes hard*
AnnMorette – Loving them all is an entirely acceptable response
Stella – *beams* Thank you!
Inferno – Just wait – there are photos of me trying to do that, too …
Anonse – Thank you very much!
Mitsu – You’d be so welcome to visit, Mitsu! I must admit that I don’t think about the light, as it’s what I live with. I’ve only travelled as far as the east coast of Australia, and it’s not all that different, light-wise, there

It must be wonderful to be able to to have some fun in an outdoor bath full of cool water in the warm sunshine. What a fantastic idea. Please use something else for the herbs. Keep the bath for what your using it for… a drop of sunshine to brighten our cold January days Scarletxx

Oh Dee,
As soon as I knew this was your post, I couldn’t wait to see what you’d done. You never fail to make me smile. You are so in tune with yourself, I am full of admiration for you. I beamed at viewing all six images. The theme behind it is just awesome. Dee, keep on being you, you are simply wonderful.

Scarlet – Yes, my tub is moving with us, and definitely not going to be used for herbs (at least not this season). I love it too much just the way it is!
Pea – What a marvellous comment! I am beaming from here to next week after reading it. Thank you
xx Dee
