Fill ‘er Up!

Posted on | December 2, 2012 | 10 Comments |

The first real job I ever had was pumping petrol, at the gas station just across the road from our house. I worked there for nearly four years, part-time after school and on the weekends (on Saturday mornings I got to open up the place, even, and was supervisor for the shift. Oh, the power!). Despite coming home reeking of petrol and needing to shower thoroughly, I overall really liked it – I was delighted not to be working in a supermarket or fast food joint like so many of my friends.

All these years later, I make it a point to always pump my own gas, check my oil and water, and I definitely know how to change (and rotate) my tyres. It’s amazing how many people expect someone else to do it for them!

I worked for two different petrol station companies (as I went on to a different one when I was at university, for a little while), but I never worked for this particular one. And I certainly never visit this particular station! So it seemed like the ideal place to stop and grab a snap.

Hylas got the photos, while Kiana kept an eye out – aren’t they such great enablers? As it is, the folks in the store seemed oblivious, although the cameras probably caught something – but one woman also filling up may well have caught a glimpse. Good for her!

This is the last set of photos from the very busy day that saw me flashing at a fountain, steps, construction site, elevator, escalator and pipes!

Love it!! I am dying to do this one but it’s difficult if not impossible to do alone considering the environment :)

Love the expression on your face in the last image and as I said in my post with regards to my recent petrol pump exploits I really do believe that people are in general so wrapped up in themselves that they just don’t notice what is going on right in front of them

I noticed the lovely background behind the gas station. Looks wonderful. As do you. I love how you do this in random locations. Makes me smile.

    Silverdrops – That’s what I do best!

Kazi – Very true. It really needs an offsider for this one…

Rebel – It was such a high, getting away with this :)

Molly – Ain’t that the truth!

Beck – Funnily enough, I hadn’t even noticed the background – I had to scroll back up to look! This station is just before the motorway onramp, so the pretty greenery is actually a wall that goes up to the motorway above it.

    Tonya – I just can’t help myself :)

Penny – Who, me? Nah, I’m just filling up the car …

Kim – One day you will be!

Agatha-luise – I’m enabling sin, yep! Glad you liked what you saw :)

    xx Dee
