Cave Dee

Naked in a cave, under the earth. There’s no light. The air is damply chill, and the walls feel rough and rocky against my skin. I know that if I removed my footwear the ground beneath me would be slimy with decomposed leaf litter.
I could curl up. I could retreat into myself. I could become less. Instead I go the other way; become more myself. Stronger. Freer. More open to all my senses and to the world around me.
Free, I express myself the best way I know: laughter, and self-love.
And it is dark. I can’t see a damned thing – until the flash goes off, and then there’s too much light! It was amazingly well done of Hylas to get me in shot as often as he did!
(click-throughs on all images.)
There’s quite the wet patch developing on the ground. And yet another pair of my shoes has now been anointed in my juices …
When I have had enough, I stretch and wander out from my cave – back into the wider world. Feeling primitive and sated, myself in a way I have not been in far too long.
Everyone needs a cave. I have mine – how about you?
**
Funnily enough, I have been re-reading the Earth’s Children series …

I don’t have a cave unless you count my duvet… but I wish I did and you look so sexy emerging from your cave.

What a great space!! and the red eye effect has you looking quite feral, yowza!!
I have a cave shot “in the can” as well, though my space is considerably smaller…

Great shots! Our favorite is the second, as you appear so content as you explore. Looks like you had a lot of fun, as always!

Great Shots! My first thought was wet and cold, but you don’t look uncomfortable at all. Definitely a great element for you.

Molly – I think everyone needs a cave (aside from their duvet). It can be good to get back to the basics.
Kazi – Feral is a pretty good description for how I was feeling!
Jack and Jill – It was a very small cave, so there wasn’t much space to explore – but I could always explore myself
Rebel – You’ll note I carefully didn’t share the location of my cave … but yes, you need a cave too.
Rachel – It was still summer here when we took these photos (it’s autumn now) so no cold and no wetness except for my own!
