Breathing easy

Posted on | February 19, 2012 | 19 Comments |

We were heading into old military tunnels under North Head, which were originally excavated and built to protect Auckland from Russians in the late 1800s.  So of course I was going to take a gas mask with me! Hylas has an impressive collection of gas masks (more impressive, I can recognise and name most of them now), but generally he’s the one wearing them. This was only the second time I’d worn one for more than 30 seconds…

*click to see me a long way down a long tunnel!*

For those curious, what’s on my face is an Israeli civilian gas mask, with a fresh, working filter. It’s damned comfortable, and extremely easy to breathe in. Between that and the other non-modified gas masks, I’m heading to Hylas’ if the world ever ends, and taking Apollo with me!

(The modified ones are for breath play. They’re no good at all for apocalypses. But awesome for sexyfuntimes.)

Pretending I was an apocalypse-tunnel-dwelling horny Dee wasn’t difficult at all. I had to keep my footwear on – I didn’t trust the ground and it was damned dark in there – so I found my way to the end and made free with myself as Hylas vaguely aimed in my direction with the camera and hoped to get some good shots. Yes, there’s another if you click through.

What the heck was this for? I don’t know. But it was just the right height to peer through, with boob. So I did. Hi there! *click*

**

I had so much damned fun under there. Yes, I am a sick, sick puppy!

that looks super fun, I really want a gas mask now! What is breath play?

Given that the part of the tunnel complex we were in was where they housed an engine/generator combo for powering the searchlights (item 8 in this guide), I would expect that the big black wall with the window for peeking through was actually the control panel with meters and switchgear for the electricity made there. It is good for peeking through though! :)

I am not at all into gasmasks or breathplay, but it did look as though you were having some sexy fun in that tunnel :)

@Penny, breath play (aka erotic asphyxiation) is a kind of BDSM play. It appeals to me because I quite like restraint, and it’s a bit like bondage for your breathing. Giving up control of that to another paradoxically feels freeing to me in a way, and it’s kinda hot too! :)

Most of the gas masks I have are unmodified (which means they would still provide some level of protection in the event of an apocalypse, although the filters are probably all well past their expiry dates so they won’t be as effective as they once were). They have two valves in them — one that opens when you breathe in to let fresh air in and one that opens when you breathe out to let your exhaust air out. The inlet valve on a gas mask has a threaded port on it, where the filter is attached to clean the air you’re breathing of all the harmful substances.

On the modified gas masks I have, the outlet valve/port has been sealed over and the inlet valve has been removed so that exhaust air can go out of that port too. With the thread on the inlet port that is normally used for the filter, you can now attach a number of different things for breath play purposes. I have a selection of rebreather bags (scroll down to see the detailed images on this page) which are pretty cool — I like them because they are rubber and make a neat sound as they inflate/deflate from your breathing. I also have a rubber hose with a hollow dildo at the end of it (similar to this but with a single hole on the end of the dildo rather than three on the side), which makes it very easy for the top to control how much air the bottom is receiving, and if that air has any odours in it :) Dee is quite fond of the dildo hose, as she can do some neat tricks with it. She likes to have it in her mouth so that when I inhale the air comes in through her nose first before passing through her mouth and down the tube, and she can easily block the hole in the end of the dildo with her tongue to control how much air I am getting.

    Great pics. :)
I did not know that about the Russians. I really should have paid more attention during history classes.

What a fun series! Neither of us are into breath play – it’s one of a very few things that Jill is afraid to try – but I own a military surplus gas mask not unlike this one. I don’t remember how I came into possession of it, but it makes quite a conversation piece.

Ooooh fantastic shots. Terrifying though. Small spaces and I don’t mix, even more so with gasmasks. Brave lady! xx

I used to have a gas mask like that. I sold it at a garage sale to a bunch of stoners because apparently, you can use it to get high.

Penny – It was a blast! I hope Hylas’ explanation of breath play helped :)

Hylas – And now I’ve learned something too! I thought that black wall was just another thing for hiding behind if people took a shot at you…

Kazi – In another post or two you’ll see just how much this turned me all on!

Mrs jojo – Hylas took amazing photos, considering he couldn’t see anything except with a tiny torch and by the flash of the camera.

Huff – I don’t recall them even mentioning it in our history classes in NZ. So why would it come up in yours? Amazing what slips through the cracks of time.

Kitty – It was remarkably easy to breathe in the mask, and I felt quite safe in it. And yes, had a great time!

Jack and Jill – Hylas is very into his gas masks, so they get used a lot. They’re not often on my head, though :)

Rebel – They were amazing to explore, and a lot of fun to photograph in. There are still pics to come!

Molly – Oh, I’m pretty easy to convince, hon …

Jennifer – A good thing I can be in these photographs instead of you, then :)

Mia – It was a choice (for me) between the Israeli gas mask and the Russian. Glad I went with this one, as I like the look (and the fit) much better.

Vincent – Now that I don’t know about. But it would sure look funny!

Kiwiana – Er, because I’m me? I have no idea!

Jeph – Why thank you, hon :)

Slut – Oh, you are lovely! Where are you travelling to?

Cara Sutra – Not chilly in the slightest – it’s the middle of summer here and rather hot. The cool walls were actually lovely.

Tonya – It’s quite close to home – not more than a fifteen minute drive – and although we had to walk up the hill, it was definitely worth it :)

    xx Dee
