Intriguing reading #1

Posted on | November 5, 2011 | 5 Comments |

Thanks, Google Reader, for torpedoing my shared links. Fuckers. I’ll just have to do a regular roundup of worthy reading instead.

The Trends and Politics of Bra Shape: “Just as body shapes go in and out of fashion, breast shape does too. And–it seems to me–the trend is influenced by the pornography of the day. ” (Blog for Better Sewing)

Punishments for Masturbation Throughout History: “According to Graham a masturbator grows up ‘with a body full of disease, and with a mind in ruins, the loathsome habit still tyrannising over him, with the inexorable imperiousness of a fiend of darkness.’ (Sticky the Movie)

Making Presentations Less Ableist: “Even if you cannot find a perfectly accessible place (frequent in queer and kinky communities, or when working with non-profits who have to rely on donations of space), the fact that you are acknowledging accessibility is a huge step, and many PWD, myself included, can then make an informed decision about what attending will look like.” (Shanna Katz)

What Happened at my First Porn Shoot: ” I briefly considered the possibility of being in the line of fire should ejaculation occur, but mostly pushed that thought out of my mind and enjoyed my front-row seat. Luckily, I remained dry through both shoots…at least outwardly.” (Anna Pulley/Alternet)

I Robot: “But if you had a robot; it could spank you. This could save all those dangerous encounters from the internet, or having to ask your friends to come around and wield the strap or cane. Spanking on demand. Perfect.” (The Blog of Fred)

On not being OK: “I want to know if I’m the only geek who has an ED. I’m afraid the answer is yes.” (geekfeminism)

In Reader – Right hand corner, top of the screen. There’s a button which says ‘share’ which will put any shared article into G+. Not quite the same, but all is not lost either.

Ah, but when you have an inherent objection to G+ due to their ‘real name’ policy (even though they’ve dropped it now), and so refuse to use it … not to mention the way they’ve high-handedly just fucked over their strong-if-comparatively-small base of Google Reader sharers? They’ve lost a lot of my trust. So I’ll do it this way instead.

And yes, lovely Hylas, that link came from you!

    xx Dee
