It”s election day in New Zealand this Saturday. I cast my votes about a week before leaving for Melbourne (which made listening to all the election coverage after I’d already voted extra-amusing) but for everyone else it’s yet to come, and there are choices to be made.
This time around there are four choices rather than the usual two: there’s the electoral vote and the party vote; and also a referendum asking if a) should we keep our voting system of MMP (mixed-member proportional), and if not, b) what should it be changed to?
So I went to one of the open-early for special votes booths, and I cast my votes. But when we were staying in Wellington our hotel had such a great view of the Beehive – our house of Parliament – I couldn’t resist getting some photos to show my thoughts on the entire process.

The whole things makes me tired, really.
Generally whomever is in power just fucks us for the next few years anyhow – so why not bend over and take it?
This is my ‘hotel’ photo set for the Scavenger Hunt. And a lovely hotel it was, too! Big enough to share with Hylas and Kiana, with a delicious view, comfortable beds, and a great shower as well
