Yes, there have been a lot of anal sex toys reviewed here recently – this is what happens when you finally find a partner who is an anal slut (his definition – not that I’m arguing with him!). So I’ve been getting to do lots of butt-play, and the toys that we play with get reviewed.
So hold onto your bottom (or whatever). Here we go with another one!
TabuToys like to encourage me when I’m trying new stuff, so when they sent me out the Aneros Progasm to try they also popped the Nexus GyroXtreme in the box. And extreme is really not an understatement – this is not a beginners butt-toy (‘not for the faint-hearted’). If you’re a beginner, go for a small(er) Nexus toy, like the Gyro or the G-Rider.
I was a smart and benevolent Boss, and so when it came time to try out this toy, I sensibly got Hylas to warm up his bum beforehand. About mid-afternoon he lubed up and slid a small toy in (the Gem, in this case). Then, before dinner, he upsized (heh) to the Pearl. Thus when it came time, post-dinner, to get naked and play some, his posterior was suitably stretched to be able to take this toy all the way in. And he’d been getting hornier and hornier all afternoon!
(A toy this size definitely needs to be built up to, unless, as Hylas put it “you have a barn back there or something.” Just so you know.)
Lubricant, of course, is essential. Water-based is smart if you’re going to play with a silicone toy, because you really don’t want to melt your toy before you have some fun.
Now different silicone toys feel different, but this one is nice and soft – although not so soft that it loses its shape. It’s firm but giving, if that makes sense. This does make it easier to insert – although I recommend not having lube all over your hands at the same time, or it can be hard to hold on to.
Hylas had no problem getting the GyroXtreme fully inserted, although we took it nice and slow. Once all the way in, it did indeed press against his prostate (as advertised), and because it was so large it felt quite intense. Added bonus: clenching his arse muscles around the toy meant I got to watch his cock flexing (and, you know, it felt good for him too).
Where this toy fell down, for us, is that sitting and rocking – and being hands-free – didn’t work. I have a strong suspicion that this is going to be one of those things that varies from person to person – but for Hylas, sitting right on that end? Not so fun.
We experimented with a number of different ways to try and make this work:
Sitting up on towels on the bed? The mattress has too much give.
Sitting upon the lid of toilet seat? Too intense.
Sitting on the bathroom tiles? WAY too intense.
Sitting on towels on the carpet in the hallway? This had the right amount of give (for the surface to be sitting on), but ultimately was just too much.
Our theory, later on, was that the size of the bulb was too big for Hylas – although not the rest of the toy! What it meant was that if he was sitting directly upright, his butt-cheeks didn’t reach the ground on either side of it. So his entire upper body was resting on the bulb, and every part of the toy ground extra-hard into him.
This is what we worked out instead. For Hylas and me, the best way to play with this toy was one of two ways. Firstly, he could lie on his back with his legs up, and I could do all the work by pressing (gently but inexorably), pulling (just a little), or twisting (just a bit) the end of it. The alternative was to get him up on his hands and knees, and then to do pretty much the same thing. Either way, I got a great view, and had a lot of fun – and he enjoyed himself too.
So, for us this is really a couples-play toy. While it can theoretically be used solo, we get a lot more pleasure using it together. But that’s okay – we like it, and we’ll definitely keep on using it.
Verdict: This is a keeper. Despite not using it as advertised, we’ll be playing with this one again.
