Cool Water

Posted on | February 12, 2009 | 25 Comments |

In New Zealand we call them ‘togs’ – those lovely stretchy pieces of clothing we pull on over our curves and bumps, and then splash gleefully into the water whilst wearing. In this balmy summer weather, they get used a lot!

In Australia they’re usually known as ‘cossies’, and in other places you’ll hear them referred to as bathers or swimsuits – but here it is and always has been togs. These are mine.

I’ve had a few pairs of togs in my life, each lasting between 5 and 10 years. These togs I bought about four years back, and they’re very comfortable indeed! Alas, the arm straps like to roll down sometimes, but that can be used to my advantage when I want to show off my boobs…

There are a surfeit of beaches around Auckland, but with beaches comes a) sand and b) sunburn. I tend to hide away from such things, so my togs see the most action at the pools closest to Adonis and Aphrodite’s house. Each week we fling our clothes off and our togs on, and spend an hour or two walking, swimming and splashing in the lovely cool water.

I simply can’t understand
Why swimsuits are in such demand
They’re soggy and damp,
Bind like a clamp,
And hold about three pounds of sand!

Many thanks to Aphrodite for suggesting swimsuit pics, as well as taking them.

I have to watch out for the sun, too. My skin just does not get along with it. :)

I cannot wait for warmer weather to finally come my way – I can’t remember the last time it was warm enough to swimming! Maybe I need to come visit you and bring my suit? Or would it be better left at home?

The only place I’ll be wearing my tog any time soon is under 7 layers of long underwear!

I love summer for only one reason, swimming. I love to swim. I love to be in the water. So calming and fun. I do hate wearing a “tog” as you call it though.

    Oh, lovely! Utterly gorgeous. 😀

Your togs must be made better than US swimsuits… I’m lucky to get 3 years from mine! But, come summer, I’ll need to do an HNT with mine. It’s a deep v leopard print, and I adore it.

Thursday – You know, I’ve only swum without togs once – and that was back in 2001! I have been known to spa in the nude, though…

Dana – Togs would look pretty strange under long underwear. Mind you, you’d not be able to see them.

Sage – No togs? Not even swimming trunks? That’s terrible!

Amorous Rocker – You swim naked when you can? I love how my boobs bobble when I do that.

13messages – Sexy and informative? My job here is done, then.

carnivalesq – It may be that I wear my togs less often than you wear yours. I’m sure if I wore them a couple of times a week I’d wear them out faster. (Will we get to see your togs any time soon?)

Kyle – It goes both ways, as I get to appreciate all your (plural) summer pics when I’m freezing in the winter chill.

    Heavenly Sinful – Nooooo. Really?

Essin’ – I rarely wear anything with a flower pattern, but I quite like this one. Glad you like too!

Lapis – Oh, that I could do that more often…

Mina – We’re kiwis, so we use all sorts of funny words. Remind me to tell you about jandals (footwear), bach (housing), and chip (strawberries) sometime!

SleepingDreamer – I would love that! When and where?

Maeve – You’d be welcome, my dear!

Marcello, hntfor3, Beautiful Dreamer, BBG, Artist, Jennybean, Vixen, Nolens, Raven, autumn, Richard – thanks for your comments and compliments!

    xx to all,
